Koen Lucas

Koen Lucas, the newest member of the Verbal Judo training team, has recently opened a Verbal Judo office in the Netherlands.
Throughout his career, Lucas has held key roles within the military and various governmental organizations. For the last 10 years, he has also worked as a consultant, training law enforcement personnel in communication and behavioral skills.
Dissatisfied with Dutch courses available in the field of aggression management, he researched available material in the English-speaking world, came across Verbal Judo and recognized it for the uniquely practical and logical tactics it offers. Lucas joined Doc Thompson for a TacCom trainer´s course in Syracuse in September 2009 and started introducing Verbal Judo in the Netherlands in February 2010.
Lucas served in the military as a Second Lieutenant, commanding an educational platoon for Infantry Security.
After this service, he was employed by a consultancy firm as a sworn-in environmental law enforcer for several governmental organizations (Municipalities, Provinces, Ministries). He was soon promoted to project leader, procuring and managing mainly law enforcement projects and training  - then scarce - enforcement personnel.
Lucas moved on to the position of department head of law enforcement with an inter-municipal service organization for 20 municipalities. He expanded the number of enforcers from 12 to 30 and took on many other law enforcement fields (building inspection, spatial planning, soil, water quality, flora & fauna, fire safety, etc.).
For the last 5 years Koen has been an interim manager for many different government organizations and has led departments of integral law enforcement and city guard, thus adding public environment, waste and parking inspection to his experience. He has been self-employed since March 2008.
